Dance, music, art and theatre are weaved into all aspects of life in Launceston. Touring national and international bands and DJs can be heard in bars and nightclubs across the City on almost any night of the week and the comedy scene is making a resurgence with a number of local venues supporting well know acts and up-and-comers.
Contemporary dance is well represented, with unforgettable performances by TasDance and Stompin’regularly scheduled. Or if your tastes lie more in the classical, be sure to catch the acclaimed TSO - Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
On an artistic note, contemporary art enthusiasts will find much to discover here, with a number of commercial galleries scattered throughout and around the City. The jewel in our cultural crown is the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery(QVMAG). Both permanent exhibits and travelling shows can be explored at the Inveresk Railyards site, and at Royal Park fine art and design exhibitions reflect both our heritage and contemporary culture.
